The month begins near and on the water of Eastern Ontario. Before long though, I'm on the road or at least in the sky, on my way back to the United States once again.
Perfect Rose
July 30, 2005
I don't consider myself to be a rose guy for the most part, but this pink rose caught my eye. It seems like it has the perfect formation of petals.
Flying Over Milwaukee
July 29, 2005
Shortly after takeoff from General Mitchell Airport, this plane was flying up into the clouds above the top of the Milwaukee Art Museum.
White Lines
July 29, 2005
If you're ever in Milwaukee, especially in the summertime, make sure to head straight to the waterfront. You're guaranteed to be confronted by lines and geometry at every turn. The primary white lines in this photo are the Milwaukee Art Museum and the US Bank Building.
Shuffle Button
July 27, 2005
Shuffle the CD, shuffle your feet, shuffle the cards, shuffle, shuffle, shuffle. Saying the word quickly makes you sound like you're mumbling.
Lily Fuzz and Buzz
July 27, 2005
A busy bee climbs out of the deep recesses of this colourful, fuzzy lily.
Electric Heavens
July 25, 2005
Hot humid days have been leading to loud, wet, windy nights of late. On this night, the clouds were charged with electricity and several bursts of lightning errupted. Unfortunately for me, most of them were behind this large wall of clouds.
Dodged
July 24, 2005
I'm stumped again. Why on Earth would somebody steal the hood ornanment from a Dodge Neon? I don't know. Somebody did it to this silver bullet, leaving behind only a sticky residue.
A city without people
July 22, 2005
I'm not employing any trick photography here -- there really weren't any people in this large, open downtown expanse. And I really don't know why. Odd, isn't it?
Three Amigos
July 22, 2005
Street light, utility pole and parking meter -- no street would be a street without them. And how about the regular pattern of the wall and complete chaos of the street in the foreground? A masterpiece!
FedEx Delivers in the Rain
July 21, 2005
An intense afternoon storm didn't stop this FedEx agent from delivering her parcel ... or illegally parking.
Water Lily Lotus Flower
July 20, 2005
Water lily or lotus flower, I'm not sure which -- maybe they're the same. Whatever the case, I really like the subtle colours of this scene. The photo was taken at the Boerner Botanical Gardens.
Tough Day at the Office
July 19, 2005
You know it's a tough day at the office when even the little guys have to park their bikes in the parking lot. Hopefully he was at least able to take a break to go and ride around.
Fruit Bowl by the Window
July 14, 2005
Welcome home ... have some fruit. How about some apples, an orange and a banana too? Sounds good to me.
Red Roses and American Flags
July 12, 2005
Welcome to America ... though this scene is missing the requisite apple pie, it does have some stars, stripes and red roses. And if you're interested, no, I didn't use any special filters or Photoshop to create that effect -- just a closed screen door.
Terminal Two STU
July 11, 2005
While making a connection through Toronto's Terminal 2, I had to endure an extremely long walk towards the STU wing -- the home of gates S, T and U. The only airport walk that I've ever done that would compare in length was in Montreal's Dorval (Trudeau) airport.
Two Trees in a Field
July 06, 2005
A pair of trees, one tall, the other not so tall, share this otherwise open field in the final hour before sunset.
Wooden Boating on Charleston Lake
July 04, 2005
One of Ontario's many, many beautiful lakes, Charleston Lake is a great place for camping, cottaging and boating. This old Shepherd boat proudly flies an Ontario flag.
Welcome Mariners
July 03, 2005
Brockville's welcoming waterfront greets boaters from both sides of the river. With more and more diving in the area, this is fast becoming THE place for fresh water diving in Canada and perhaps even North America.
Sailboats Through Trees
July 03, 2005
A break in the trees along the waterfront afforded me this view of a dozen or so sailboats on the Brockville waterfront. Across the St. Lawrence River you can see the northern edge of New York State, not far from Ogdensburg.
Closeup of a Canada Goose
July 03, 2005
Though it isn't visible in this photo, there was a fence between this goose and I -- knowing how unpredictable large geese can be, I thought that this fence was a very good thing.
Reflecting Quarry Pond at Sunset
July 02, 2005
Another in my long line of photos with highly descriptive titles, this photo is indeed of a pond, in a quarry, with a reflection of the sky at sunset.
