As usual, I spent most of the month looking ... looking up in the air, looking down on the ground, looking for things ... any things. Below you'll find some of the things that I looked at in August 2006.
Here's Looking at You
August 20, 2006
It takes a lot of focus and concentration to take a good photo. No, this isn't me, and no I didn't use a mirror to take this shot.
It's Hot
August 18, 2006
The mercury doesn't lie, even on this old thermometer -- it's an even 100 degrees Fahrenheit today, or about 38 degrees Celsius for the metric-friendly crowd.
Right Turn Clyde
August 16, 2006
This solo Canadian goose is turning to the right to join the rest of its flock during a morning flight.
Submerged Stalker
August 13, 2006
The submerged stalker waits, perfectly still, for its prey. Looking more like an aligator than a frog, this amphibian was hanging out in water that I'd rather not swim in, but he (?) seemed perfectly content.
Edinburgh Festival Crowd
August 10, 2006
Huge crowds filled Edinburgh's Royal Mile watching daytime street performances during the Fringe Festival.
Kilted Sportsman
August 09, 2006
Something about this scene ... an elderly gentleman, wearing a kilt with an Adidas backback on, while shopping ... seems a little out of place to me.
Museum of Communism Poster
August 06, 2006
That sure is a happy looking critter ... the little guy holding the AK-47. I guess I never knew there was a Museum of Communism in Prague, but, why not? The real surprise to me though was the location, "Above McDonalds". Times have changed.
Miniature Tourists in Prague
August 06, 2006
The tourists in this photo, taken from the tower of St. Vitus at the Prague Castle, seem very small, almost as if a tilt-shift lens was used. It wasn't, nor was any digital trickery for that matter.
The World's Smallest Barbed Wire Fence
August 04, 2006
I'm sure that there is a bit of history behind this thing, but, I have to admit that I don't really understand the idea behind a) making such a small fence, and, b) covering it with barbed wire. Culture shock never ceases to confuse, amaze and inspire me.
Dead Bugs
August 02, 2006
Either this license plate hasn't been washed in a while, or, Vienna has a lot more bugs than I noticed.
Gute Fahrt?
August 02, 2006
My German isn't very good, but is this sign saying what I think it's saying? If it is, I'm a little confused.
Neon Gold Fish
August 31, 2006
These fish on the wall are glowing gold, red and blue. Maybe not too tasty, but they look kind of cool.
Not Much of a View
August 29, 2006
Not much of a view of anything other than some Cream City bricks and some metallic blinds.
